MOCKTEST 2010
The sessions and application forms for students entering year 7 in September 2011 (current year 5
pupils) are now available.
This year a number of schools will be holding their entrance test in September. In light of this, the SGS PTA will be holding all the mocktests in the summer term with no sessions available in September.
Living in the catchment area of selective schools, parents with children of qualifying age will know about the tension that builds up in the run-up to the various entrance exams. Well aware of this, the PTA at Sutton Grammar School has organised a series of "Mock Tests" in recent years that help reduce the anxiety and have received overwhelming praise from participating families.
The SGSPTA Mocktests are unique to the area and give boys and girls the rare opportunity to complete typical test papers in an authentic environment. The test is not modelled on any particular school’s entrance test but is of the general standard and carried out in a simulated test environment. Although candidates receive results that reflect their ability, SGSPTA organisers stress that the experience itself is the real strength of the Mocktests, especially as most children of this age have never sat any formal exam before.
The dates for the ‘mocktests’ have been finalised and applications are invited for places on it. Please download an application form and return the completed section by post to the PTA at the school’s address enclosing payment and two stamped addressed envelopes. Allow two weeks for processing. If you have not heard after two weeks then please email.
Envelopes – these should be 16x23cm and the correct postage must be attached. A first class stamp is sufficient. Larger envelopes must have a 'large' stamp. (Each year some letters go astray because of the incorrect stamps being attached)
Please note that the school office collects the PTA post but does not administer the test. They do not have any information about the test so please do not contact the school in connection with any aspect of the test. Please email mocktests@hotmail.co.uk with any queries. Emails are accessed daily.
