We are thrilled to share the incredible achievement of Year 7 student Supratit, who recently competed in the UK Blitz Final 2025 after qualifying from one of just 16 regional events held across the country.
This is an extraordinary accomplishment, especially when you consider the average age and experience level of the players in the final! Supratit faced a field of elite competitors, including Grandmasters, International Masters, and FIDE Masters, some of the strongest chess players in the world.
In the London Chess Classic Open, held over five days, Supratit delivered an outstanding performance close to an International Masters rating (2400). Across nine rounds, he played against five International Masters and one Grandmaster, drawing four games and losing only two. He also secured three impressive wins against players rated over 2100, including a FIDE Master.
To put this into perspective:
- FIDE Master (FM) is the third-highest title awarded by the International Chess Federation, behind only Grandmaster and International Master
- The Open section had an average blitz rating of 2383, essentially IM level
Despite the fierce competition, Supratit finished 8th out of 16, defeating the reigning 2025 UK Blitz Champion, along with three Grandmasters and one International Master during the event.
This remarkable achievement demonstrates not only Supratit’s talent but also his resilience and strategic brilliance. We could not be prouder of his success and look forward to seeing what he accomplishes next!
