During year 7, students learn how to work with networked computers used at Sutton Grammar. Lessons cover a wide range of software programs that will prove to be useful in future Computer Science classes as well as other subjects because computers are used throughout the curriculum.

Boys learn how to use the following types of software: presentation, graphics for both still and animated images, web page design, and email, database, spreadsheet and Microbit coding.

During year 8, computing students continue to work with Microbits and web page design. They also explore computer science theory.

In year 9, students use Greenfoot Java as an introduction to object-oriented programming. Students learn how to create various aspects of video games and go on to create their own games.

We also explore more advanced aspects of website design in year 9.
