The Jack Petchey Foundation was set up to inspire and motivate young people across London and Essex by providing exciting projects and programmes for them to get involved in, which Sutton Grammar School is a part of.
The scheme allows us to give a monthly award from September to June to recognize the achievement of a student publicly with a framed certificate and later at an outside Awards Ceremony, with a special winner’s medallion. The monthly winner will also win £200 to benefit the school community through a list of projects drawn up by the school council.
Winners are chosen from nominations received by a panel of the two Senior Prefects with special responsibility for student affairs – Senior Prefect for Student Voice, Senior Prefect for Promotion of Student Activities – and a member of staff, at present the Deputy Head.
Nominations for this award are welcomed from students, staff, parents, governors or members of the public. Choose someone who you feel has contributed to the school or community in a significant way. Recipients do not have to be the best at sport, work or anything else. Achievement Award winners can be recognized for personal development and positive personality traits. Be aware that Award Winners can only win the award at the school once.
Please download a nomination form at the bottom of this page, or, if in school, collect one from the box outside the Staff Room. Details of how to submit completed nominations are on the nomination form.
Well done to Chris Payne for winning the Sutton Speak Out competition.
On 29th February 2016 three of our nine 2015-2016 winners were able to attend the Jack Petchey Award ceremony to collect their medals from the Mayor of Sutton. Congratulations to all!
