Biology at GCSE


All students follow this AQA specification in Years 9, 10 and 11.

The GCSE course is made up of 7 Topics:

1. Cell biology

2. Organisation

3. Infection and response

4. Bioenergetics

5. Homeostasis and response

6. Inheritance, variation and evolution

7. Ecology

The GCSE course will be examined with two written papers in June of Year 11 both worth 50%.  Paper 1 will assess Topics 1-4 and Paper 2 will assess Topic 5-7.  Each paper is worth 100 marks and is 1 hour 45 minutes long, being composed of multiple choice, structured, closed short answer and open response questions.
