Year 7 Photosynthesis Learning Objectives
Pupils should be able to:
- name, locate and describe the function of the organs of a flowering plant
- name, locate and describe the function of the tissues of a leaf
- know that food is made in leaves and stored as starch
- know the test for starch
- know that starch is found in leaves
- know that light is necessary for photosynthesis
- know what a fair comparison is
- be able to link fair test to an evaluation of an experimental set up
- know that carbon dioxide is needed for photosynthesis
- know how to destarch a plant
- know the definition of the term control
- know that oxygen is produced during photosynthesis
- recognise how to measure the rate of photosynthesis
- describe the role of stomata
- know the word equation for photosynthesis
- know that chlorophyll is in chloroplasts and is the photosynthetic pigment that makes leaves green
- know the route that water and carbon dioxide take to reach the palisade cells
- recognise other uses of the glucose produced in photosynthesis other than storage
- know minerals are important to keep a plant healthy
