Year 7 Admissions

Sutton Grammar School admits 135 boys into year 7 each September, into five forms of 27 boys.

Each boy is affiliated to one of five Houses, and boys retain their house affiliation throughout their time at the school.

Boys are admitted to the school on the basis of their academic ability, which we assess via an entrance test taken when the boys are in year 6.

The Selective Eligibility Test (SET) is the first stage test common to Greenshaw High School (selective band), Nonsuch High School for Girls, Sutton Grammar School, Wallington County Grammar School, Wallington High School for Girls, and Wilson's School.

Some of these schools may have further stages of testing. Please see the individual schools' websites for details.

Sutton Grammar School operates a second stage of testing, which it shares with Wilson's School.

Postponement of the SET for 2021 Entry

The Selective Eligibility Test for 2021 entry that was due to be held on 15th September is postponed. This will allow candidates time to settle back into their normal school routine, and for schools to plan the tests in light of imminently expected Government guidance.

The new date for the SET is Wednesday 11 November

This necessary delay means that the Selective Eligibility Test will now take place after the deadline for submission of your Local Authority Common Application Form (31st October 2020). Any questions about this must be addressed to your Local Authority as schools do not have any involvement in this part of the process.
