Year 7 Space Learning Objectives

Pupils should:

1.         know that the Sun is the centre of the solar system 

2.         know that the Earth and other planets orbit the Sun  

3.         know that the time taken for planets to orbit the Sun is  called a year 

4.         know that night and day occur  

5.         know that the axis on which the Earth spins is tilted and how this produces the seasons 

6.         know the planets of the solar system in order of distance from the Sun 

7.         be able to explain the conditions on the planets 

8.         be able to recognise the planets 

9.         know the relative sizes of the planets
